Welcome to the future of video production with the SVG team!

We’re all about crafting organic and meaningful video content, and we’ve hopped on the AI bandwagon to take things up a notch.

We’re using all sorts of new tools. Some are amazing, and (let’s be honest) a few that aren’t quite there yet.

So here’s an overview of all the AI tools that we’ve tried and why some have become integral components of our daily workflow.

1. ChatGPT

Even if you’re not well versed in AI tools, you’ve probably heard of ChatGPT. Essentially, it is a virtual assistant that can produce responses, paragraphs, or even longer pieces of content.

It is probably our most used AI tool in our workflow. It assists us in topic research and scriptwriting.

By offering creative suggestions and refining dialogue, it’s definitely a key tool for our video content. We don’t use it to write our scripts, but by offering creative suggestions and refining dialogue, it assists in polishing specific segments and occasionally sparks creative inspiration.

2. DALL-E & Midjourney

Both DALL-E and Midjourney are AI image generators. We use these quite often at SVG, specifically in the pre-production stage. Having these sources at our fingertips allows us to create high quality storyboards to show clients.

Both DALL-E and Midjourney are great in their own ways, but they each have their own advantages and disadvantages.

For example, Midjourney is a lot more powerful than DALL-E. The images are better quality, and are usually more accurate to the prompts you give. However, it isn’t the easiest to use from the start. You need a Discord account to join and use it, rather than a web app like DALL-E.

Although DALL-E has less features than Midjourney, it’s still great at image generation and is much easier to access. That being said, both can be used in different ways and are highly recommended by us at SVG!

3. Runway

Runway AI is a website that combines various AI tools all in one platform. Some of its features include:

  • Text/Image to Video
  • Video to Video
  • Image to Image
  • Text to Speech
  • Infinite Image
  • Inpainting
  • Frame Interpolation

Not only can you generate videos, but you can also edit them in Runway’s edit suite. Some really great features of the edit suite are motion tracking and removing any background in your videos.

SVG uses Runway quite often during pre-production and post-production. Each AI tool is great in their own way, but when they’re used simultaneously, the results can be really powerful.

For example: when making concept art, Midjourney would be the best place to generate an image, but then bringing that image into Runway’s Image to Video generator to animate it would be the cherry on top.

4. Topaz Labs

This is one of the most powerful photo and video enhancement software on the market. Topaz Labs has quickly become one of my favourite AIs to add to my editing workflow.

Some of its best features are:

  • Enhancement (up to 4K)
  • Frame Interpolation
  • Motion Deblur
  • Stabilization

Whether you’re using it to give new life to old shots, or to slow down a video by 8x, this program is an absolute beast and can likely tackle anything you give it.

5. Adobe Podcast

As an editor, Adobe Podcast has been a lifesaver in the sound mixing area. I use it once a project is completed and a final audio render is needed.

I run the dialogue through Adobe Podcast, and it makes everything sound seamless, clean, and perfectly mixed. It can clean up pretty much any audio clip and make it sound like it was recorded with a professional mic.

The free version is more than enough if you’re just using it casually as it allows you to process an hour of audio per day. Although if you’d like to process longer clips, or have the ability to customize the enhancement, the premium version might be worth looking into.

6. Zoom AI Companion

(Meeting Summary)

This tool is super useful when meeting with current clients, prospective clients and/or team members. This will send the host a summary of the whole meeting once it’s finished so that they can review at their leisure.

Having a document to look back on and review key points or topics covered in each meeting can be very handy and is one of our favourite Zoom features at SVG.

7. Eleven Labs

Eleven Labs is a voice AI that translates Text to Speech or Speech to Speech. There are a huge number of AI voices to choose from that will suit any occasion and it’s free up to 10,000 characters per month!

In my opinion, the Speech to Speech is much more accurate and easier to customize than the Text to Speech. Speech to Speech will take a recording of a voice and morph that voice into another one of your choosing.

It mimics exactly how the recording’s intonation sounds, and just changes the voice, making it sound more human and natural. Text to Speech is still impressive none the less, if you don’t mind it sounding a little bit robotic.

This is an AI we’d love to use more often but have only tried it a couple times.

AI Tools That Are On Our To-Do List:

1. Synthesia

This AI video generator’s most notable features are Text to Voice and Text to Video. Text to Video creates your very own talking head avatar in which you can edit exactly what it says and have a fully formed talking head video in minutes.

You can choose from over 140 diverse avatars, or you can create your own avatar that looks just like you. The results are pretty mind blowing and can save companies lots of time and money.

2. OwlyWriter AI

All businesses know the frustration of trying to post frequently on social media while also having engaging content with proper descriptions and hashtags. Well, OwlyWriter takes the hard work out of social media. It can write posts based on any link you provide, captions, and can even repurpose your old posts.

3. Copy AI

Copy AI is a platform that is a copy writing wizard for sales and marketing. You can ask it to do pretty much anything copy related and it will deliver. It’s key features are:

  • Scrape URL’s (generates information based on a link you give it)
  • Translate
  • Describe Image (takes an image and gives it a description – great for social posts)
  • Blog Writing

And that concludes the list of AI platform’s SVG has had the pleasure of using!

We hope this list was useful and we can’t wait to continue trying to optimize our creative workflow with AI.
